DESIGN

The design of SRI polymeric surge arrester comprises of :

METAL OXIDE NON LINEAR RESISTORS

Metal oxide varistor are composed of a specially formulated compound of zinc oxide and small amount of other selected metal oxides. These ingredients are mixed in powdered form, pressed to form a disc and fired at high temperature under specific temperature profile resulting in a highly non liner-resistance characteristic

FRP TUBE

The composite structure is made of a fiber glass reinforced synthetic resin which is designed to give maximum mechanical strenght. The silicon rubber housing also provide very high insulation withstand strenght to the SRI arrester

SILICON RUBBER HOUSING

SRI silicon compound are formulated to provide excellent hydrophobic characteristic and better balance of UV and tracking performance which limits leakage current.

CONDUCTING ELECTRODES

Specially designed and processed aluminium alloy castings are fixed to each and of arrester and the end aluminium castings are in firm electrical contact with internal MOV block stack assembly

DISCONNECTOR

High Voltage Ground Lead Disconnecter

FEATURES

Built in Ground Lead Disconnect (GLD) to separate arrester from system to prevent line lockouts Protects insulator from lightning and switching over-voltages Available in 3kV to 36kV system voltage

from the bottom of the arrester if the arrester has overloaded and failed. It is also known as a ground lead disconnector (GLD) or isolator. This current will cause the arrester body to fail if it is not stopped quickly. The first function of the ground lead disconnector is to disconnect the ground lead of the surge arrester in case of an internal failure of the arrester, preventing explosive failure of the arrester body. The ground lead disconnector contains a cartridge in series with a gap. The gap is shunted by a resistor. As the current rises, the The second function of the ground lead is to give a visible indication of arrester failure for arresters mounted on overhead distribution lines. If a lineman sees an arrester with its ground lead hanging in midair, he knows that he has a failure which must be replaced.

FEATURES

SRI offers a wide range of Insulating Base for Surge Arrester widely used in industries for power distribution and transformers; it is manufactured under strict supervision. In addition to this, these goods are dimensionally accurate and have good capacity to bear wear and tear.  A high voltage lightning arrester provided with a surge counting device mounted adjacent to its uppermost terminal by insulating members. These are arranged in a way to prevent them from being discharged directly to the ground and through the surge counter which indicate surge as well as the continuous leakage current.

ISOLATORS

The isolators are mechanically operated type of safety device incorporated for the isolation of system.The open position provides safe and desired isolation. They are widely applicable for isolation of part or complete system for carrying maintenance, repairs and similar activities where system has to be isolated from primary circuit. SRI offers double break center rotating polymeric Isolator in voltage range of 11-33 kV and current 400 A, 630 A, 800 A & 1250 A.

SRI Isolators are type tested as per IS/IEC standards at CPRI, ERDA to pass all required primary and supplementary tests.
